History

The North Carolina Association for Death Education and Counseling began after Jack LoCicero returned from his first ADEC conference which was held in Duluth, MN in 1991.  A letter was mail to all ADEC members living in North Carolina in January 1992 to see if there was interest in starting a state chapter.  All members were invited to an organizational meeting at Hospice of Winston-Salem.  There was an overwhelming positive response in favor of starting a chapter.

The first Board of Directors consisted of:

Jack LoCicero, President

Howard Winokeur, First Vice President

Chris Osborne, Second Vice President

Alexis Stein, Treasurer

Katherine Moore, Secretary

Thomas Lundy, Member at Large

Thurman Guy, Member at Large

Audrey Brendle, Member at Large
